An application to Chorley Borough Council has been approved (17/00490/FULMAJ) for the demolition of the existing building on site (formerly Gartside and sons Plumbers) and the construction of a 5 story apartment block comprising 18 custom designed 1 & 2 bedroom apartments.
We understand the requisite s106 agreement has already been completed by the client.
Proposed plans incorporate contemporary design aesthetics including a lift service, aspects over towards Astley Park, spacious and welcoming communal areas and the optional feature of a district heating system based on ground source heat pumps ensuring each apartment would have a fixed monthly heating bill (of approx. £50) entitling each occupant to use an unlimited amount of heat for the same monthly cost (please note that this is an optional feature).
The subject site is located just off Chorley town centre to Queens Road, close to its junction with the A581 at Park Road. Chorley is a market town in Lancashire with excellent road communication links, with the M61 and M6 circumnavigating the urbanised Chorley area to the east and west respectively. Chorley is situated some 12 miles south of Preston and approximately 20 miles north west of Manchester.
The subject site is found to the south side of Queens Road, off Park Road which continues a short distance south to Market Street and the town's pedestrianized centre. Therefore the main retail offer and all central amenities are within walking distance, including Chorley rail station with links to Manchester, Wigan and Bolton.
